About Us

In 2005 the Cady School of Music opened its doors at 819 Livingston Avenue in Albany NY. With a modest beginning of 3 teachers, and 13 students, the groundwork was being laid for the hundreds of students that would start, continue, and finish their music education within our small, 4 room, school.

In September of 2017, Guilderland Music Academy opened its doors at 1823 Western Avenue within the Westmere Plaza. As a continuation of the experience and reputation of the Cady School of Music in Albany, the new space offered 7 rooms, ample parking, and a much better location for our students, and families. With student enrollment rocketing within our first 6 months in Guilderland, owner Bryan Cady decided to close the doors of the Albany Studio, after over 12 years there, at the end of January 2018 and consolidate the two locations into one.

Our last, and latest expansion, occurred in April of 2019 and saw the addition of 6 new rooms (bringing our total to 11 classrooms), a new office space, teacher lounge, and new paint and carpeting throughout our school.

Our talented Faculty and Staff are dedicated to providing an amazing experience to the over 450 students we see per week from the moment you walk through our doors, to the time you take the stage, and beyond!
We look forward to seeing you soon and to helping our students grow into the musicians they want to be!
Private instruction available on Piano, Guitar, Drums, Voice, Brass, Woodwind and String Instruments. Early Child Classes and group instruction are also available on guitar and piano.
Whether a student is young, or young at heart, our faculty are very capable of meeting our students at whatever level, and age they are.

Our Philosophy

Music is supposed to be FUN. It is meant to be a creative outlet, and a means of self expression. Students do have to learn the fundamentals on their instruments – proper technique, note reading, scales, etc. and there is certainly an expectation of coming prepared to play each week’s assignment(s). However, our teachers work to make even the basics fun for students to learn. Because at the end of the day, if we aren’t having fun making music, then we are doing it wrong!

Guilderland Music Academy

We have talented and very experienced instructors who teach piano, violin, guitar, cello, and other instruments.
